Mindfulness
Where Do I Start?
Start Here.
The first step in exploring mindfulness is to experience it for yourself.
Breathing Space Practice
Take a moment to try this 3-Minute Breathing Space.
After you finish, reflect with these questions:
- What did I notice?
- How is this different from how I usually pay attention?
- What am I feeling in my body, thoughts, and emotions right now?
What Is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is paying attention to the present moment with curiosity and without judgment. It involves tuning in to your breath, body, thoughts, feelings, and surroundings. People often practice mindfulness through meditation, walking, gentle movement, or reflective writing.
Research has shown that having a regular meditation or mindfulness practice can contribute to your overall sense of wellbeing and flourishing. These practices can help you respond to the stress of life and college in creative and unexpected ways.
There are many ways to practice mindfulness, and it’s often most powerful when shared in community with peers and experienced guides.

Join a supportive space to explore meditation with others. Each session includes a short guided practice (15–20 minutes), space for reflection, and time for questions. Open to students, staff, and faculty. No experience needed. Most sessions are led by our student mindfulness leaders.
